Anais Granofsky was born in Canada in 1974. Her father is Russian-Jewish-Canadian and her mother is African American. Anais got her acting start in the Canadian tv series "The Kids of Degrassi Street." She later appeared as Lucy Hernandez in "Degrassi Jr. High" which eventually changed over to “Degrassi High.” After "Degrassi High" ended it’s run Anais attended New York University where she graduated with a degree in film making. One of her short films won the top prize at the Tisch School of the Arts.

Anais had recurring roles in the tv shows "Nikita," "Fast Track" and "Soul Food." Her telefilm credits include "We the Jury” and “Rebound: The Legend of Earl 'The Goat' Manigault."

In 1999 Anais cofounded Have Mercy Pictures. She directed "Have Mercy" in 1999. In 2001 the second film she wrote, starred and directed "On Their Knees," was awarded the Best Film by the Black Film & Video Network 2001 Reel Black Awards.
