CCH Pounder was born Carol Christine Hilaria Pounder in Guyana, South America on December 25, 1952. After graduating from Ithaca College she performed in several regional repertoire companies.

CCH made her film debut in "All That Jazz." She would later appear in "Prizzi's Honor," "Bagdad Cafe," "Benny & Joon," "Face Off" and "End Of Days."

CCH has made guest appearances in such tv shows as "Hill Street Blues," "Cagney & Lacey," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," "Girlfriends," "The District," "227," "Sisters," "Living Single," "Rude Awakening," "Numb3rs," "The Cosby Show" and "South Central." She had recurring roles in "L.A. Law," "E.R." and "Millennium" and she's currently starring in the FX cable tv series "The Shield."

CCH is married to anthropologist Boubacar Kone.
