Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon was born in St.Marc, Haiti on November 28, 1966. She's the youngest of five sisters and two brothers. At age seven she immigrated to the U.S. with her siblings and her mother. She attended boarding school in Massachusetts and learned English while watching "Sesame Street." After living in Massachusetts her family moved to Miami where she started appearing in stage plays and variety shows.

Garcelle began modeling at age seventeen, appearing in print ads, catalogs and commercials. She signed with Ford Models in New York and appeared in magazine layouts for Avon, Clairol and Mary Kay Cosmetics, and in catalogs for Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom and Macy's.

Garcelle made her professional acting debut in "Miami Vice." Other tv guest appearances include "The Cosby Show," "Family Matters," "The Wayans Show," "The Bernie Mac Show," "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," "Life With Bonnie," "Dream On" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." Garcelle was a series regular in "Models Inc.," "The Jamie Foxx Show," "Opposite Sex," "NYPD Blue" and "Eyes."

Garcelle's feature film credits include "Coming To America," "Wild, Wild West," "Bad Company" and "Barbershop 2: Back In Business."

Garcelle has been married twice: to producer Daniel Saunders, with whom she has a son Oliver and to agent Michael Nilon. They were married in 2001.
