Jasmine Guy was born on March 10, 1964 in Boston, MA to a white mother and a black father and raised in Atlanta, GA. Her father William Guy is pastor of the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA.

Jasmine left home at age 16 and moved to New York City. While there she studied with Alvin Ailey and eventually performed with his dance company. Her training led to supporting parts in the Broadway revival and road company of "The Wiz", the short-lived "Leader of the Pack" on Broadway, and a gig as a dancer in several episodes of the TV series, "Fame", where she first worked with Debbie Allen.

Jasmine’s breakthrough came in 1987 when she landed the role of spoiled Southern belle Whitley Gilbert in the hit tv series "A Different World," a spinoff of the hit series "The Cosby Show." The show was a huge success and lasted until 1993. Jasmine has guest starred in tv shows such as "Touched By An Angel," "Living Single," "Any Day Now" and "The Parkers." She had a recurring role as Caitlin Mills in "Melrose Place" and she recently starred in the Showtime tv series "Dead Like Me."

Jasmine made her feature film debut in Spike Lee’s "School Daze." She would later in appear in "Harlem Nights," "Lillie," "Madeline" and "Diamond Men." Her telefilm credits include "A Killer Among Us," "Stompin At the Savoy," "Queen," "America’s Dream" and "Anne Rice’s The Feast Of All Saints."

Jasmine’s recent stage work includes "Grease" and "Chicago." She also co runs a community outreach center A Place Called Home.

In 1998 Jasmine married Terrence Duckette and they have a daughter Imani.
