Jayne Kennedy was born Jayne Harrison in Washington, D.C. on November 27, 1951. She grew up in Ohio in a family of six children. She became the first black woman to win the title of Miss Ohio in 1970 and eventually competed in the Miss USA Pageant. In 1970 she wed actor Leon Issac Kennedy. They divorced in 1982.

Jayne has guest starred in such tv shows as "Sanford & Son," "The Rockford Files," "Starsky & Hutch," "Police Woman," "Trapper John," "227," "The Love Boat" and "Different Strokes." During the 1970's Jayne replaced Phyllis George as a host on CBSís "The NFL Today." She also co-hosted the short lived series "Speak Up, America."

Jayne has appeared in such films as "Letís Do It Again," "Cover Girls," "The Mysterious Island of Beautiful Women" and "Body and Soul."

Jayne is currently married to Bill Overton. They have 3 daughters- Savannah, Kopper and Zaire and Jayne is a stepmom to Billís daughter Cheyenne from a previous marriage.
