A native of the Bronx, New York, Joy Bryant was raised by her late maternal grandmother. She spent 2 years at Yale University and then later decided to take up modeling when she was disovered by a modeling agent. After living in Paris for 2 years she started appearing in ads for Tommy Hilfiger and Victoria's Secret.

Joy made her acting debut in the MTV movie "Carmen: A Hip Hopera" and later appeared in "Showtime" with Eddie Murphy and Robert DeNiro. Joy's other film credits include "Antwone Fisher," "The Skeleton Key" and "Get Rich or Die Tryin."

Joy had a recurring role in the NBC series "ER."

During her off time Joy works with A Better Chance, the non-profit organization for minority students that helped Joy earn scholarships to a Connecticut prep high school and Yale.
