Kellita Smith was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Oakland, CA. When she was young Kellita attended the Oakland Community Learning Center, founded by the Black Panthers. She eventually earned an Associate’s Degree in Political Science from Santa Rosa Junior College.

After enrolling in an acting workshop Kellita toured in the play "Tell It Like It Tiz." Other stage credits include "No Place To Be Somebody" and "The Thirteenth Thorn." She won an NAACP Theatre Award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in "Feelings."

Kellita's film credits include "The Crossing Guard," "Kingdom Come," "Hair Show" and "King's Ransom."

Kellita has guest starred in such tv shows as "Living Single," "Martin," "Moesha," "The Parent 'Hood," "The Steve Harvey Show," "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper" and "For Your Love." She had recurring roles in "Sister, Sister," "Malcolm & Eddie" and "The Jamie Foxx Show."

Kellita currently stars in the FOX tv series "The Bernie Mac Show."
