Kerry Washington was born January 5, 1977. She grew up in the Bronx section of New York and attended the Spence School in Manhattan. She's also a graduate of George Washington University.

Kerry made her feature film debut in the highly acclaimed film "Our Song." Kerry later appeared in the hit film "Save the Last Dance" with Julia Stiles and Sean Patrick Thomas. Other films she's appeared in include "Bad Company," "The Human Stain," "Sin," "Ray," "She Hate Me" and "Fantastic Four."

Kerry has guest starred in such tv shows as "NYPD Blue," "The Guardian" and "Law & Order" and she had recurring roles in the A&E series "100 Centre Street" and the ABC series "Boston Legal."

Kerry received an Independent Spirit Award Best Actress nomination for her work in the film "Lift" and she received a Teen Choice Award for Best Breakout Performance for her work in "Save The Last Dance."
