Khandi Alexander was born on September 4, 1957 in New York City. Before her TV career took off, Alexander choreographed routines for Whitney Houston for four years. Her theater credits include Broadway's "Dreamgirls," "Color of Blue" and performing with the international touring company of Bob Fosse's "Dancin."

Khandi made her acting debut in the movie "Streekwalkin'." She’s gone on to star in such films as "Menace To Society" "Sugar Hill" and "There’s Something About Mary."

Khandi's tv guest appearances include "A Different World," "Cosby" and "Rude Awakening." Khandi had a recurring role as Eriq LaSalle’s sister in the tv series "E.R." for six years and she was a regular in the tv series "NewsRadio" for three years. Khandi also starred in the highly acclaimed HBO miniseries "The Corner."

Khandi currently stars in the CBS tv series "C.S.I.: Miami" with David Caruso.
