Lela Rochon was born in Torrance, California on April 17, 1964. She attended Cal State where she studied journalism and theater and she modeled in her spare time. She first made a name for herself in Lionel Richie and Luther Vandross videos, as well as her 28 Spuds Bud Light Beer commercials.

Lela’s film credits include "Harlem Nights," "Boomerang," and "Meteor Man." But it was the film "Waiting To Exhale" that catapulted her career and led to more films including "The Chamber" and "Why Do Fools Fall In Love."

Lela’s made guest appearances in such tv shows as "Amen," "The Facts Of Life," "The Cosby Show," "Roc" and "Hangin’ With Mr. Cooper." She was a series regular on "The Wayans Bros." and "The Division."

Lela and her husband, director Antoine Fuqua, are the parents of 2 children.
