CBS Finds 'Killer,' Wires 'Time Bomb'
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) David Arquette will race to save the football fans of Washington, D.C., in a CBS movie this season, while Robert Forster will star in another Eye project as a detective searching for the BTK serial killer.
Forster ("Jackie Brown," "Karen Sisco") has signed to star in "The Hunt for the BTK Killer," a true-crime story set to air in October. The movie is based on the case of Dennis Rader, the confessed killer of seven people in and around Wichita, Kan., between 1974 and '91. Rader, currently awaiting sentencing for his crimes, dubbed himself "BTK" (Bind, Torture, Kill) in communications with the media during his spree.
In addition to Forster, Michael Michele ("Homicide," "Kevin Hill") and Gregg Henry ("Eyes," "Gilmore Girls") have also joined the cast, the Hollywood trade papers report. Henry will play Rader, while Forster and Michele will play detectives searching for the killer.
Meanwhile, Arquette and Richard T. Jones ("Judging Amy") are set to star as Homeland Security agents in the real-time thriller "Time Bomb." After uncovering a bomb threat at a packed football stadium in Washington (shades of "Black Sunday"), they work with the FBI and Special Ops troops to stop the explosion.
Arquette most recently appeared in "The Adventures of Shark Boy and Lava Girl in 3-D." His other credits include "Stealing Sinatra" and the "Scream" movies. In addition to "Judging Amy," Jones has appeared in "Guess Who," "Collateral" and the CBS movie "Riding the Bus with My Sister."
Also at CBS, Brett Butler ("Grace Under Fire") Timothy Bottoms ("DC 9/11," "That's My Bush!") and "Late Late Show" host Craig Ferguson have joined the cast of the Halloween flick "Vampire Bats." The movie is a sequel of sorts to last springs "Locusts," with Lucy Lawless and Dylan Neal reprising their roles from that movie.
