Nicole Ari Parker was born on October 7, 1970 in Baltimore, Maryland. She was a member of the Baltimore Actors Theater and the Washington Ballet Company. She's also a graduate of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts in 1993.

Nicole's theater background includes Off Broadway performances in "Chicago," "House of Lear" and "Romeo & Juliet."

Nicole made her feature film debut in "The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love" in 1995. She has gone on to appear in "Boogie Nights," "200 Cigarettes," "Loving Jezebel" and "Brown Sugar" with Taye Diggs and Sanaa Lathan.

Nicole's tv guest appearances include "Cosby" and "C.S.I." Nicole had a starring role in the Showtime tv series "Soul Food" and the UPN series Second Time Around.

On March 5, 2005 Nicole gave birth to a daughter, Sophie Tei-Naaki Lee Kodjoe. On May 21, 2005 Nicole married fellow Soul Food alum Boris Kodjoe.
