Ryan Michelle Bathe was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 27, 1976.

Ryan’s love for acting started at an early age since her mom is an actress. She graduated from WestHill High School in Stamford, Connecticut in 1994. Ryan continued acting during her college years; performing in several productions while attending Stanford University where she double-majored in Black Studies and English. Ryan earned an MFA from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. She was also a member of the Chamber Singers, a singing group that performed in Europe.

Ryan's theatre credits include "As You Like It," at The Guthrie Theater, "Much Ado About Nothing" at the Old Globe and "Hot Mikado" at the Ford Theater.

Ryan’s telefilm and feature film credits include Showtime’s “Good Fences” with Whoopi Goldberg and Danny Glover, “Brother To Brother” and HBO’s “Lackawanna Blues.”

Ryan’s tv guest appearances include “ER,” “Half & Half,” “Girlfriends” and “The Education of Max Bickford.” She was a series regular in ABC's “Boston Legal” on which she played the role of Sara Holt. She recently an shot an ABC pilot “Pink Collar” with Alicia Silverstone.

Ryan lives in Los Angeles and is an admirer of the late playwright August Wilson.
