Tatyana Ali was born on January 24, 1979 in Brooklyn, New York. Her mother is from Panama and her father is of Trinidad East Indian descent. She has 2 sisters.

Tatyana studied acting, singing and dancing at a young age. She did a four-year stint on PBS's "Sesame Street" from 1984 to 1988 and she appeared on Star Search at the age of seven. At the age of eight she appeared in the Broadway production of the dramatic August Wilson play "Fences" with both James Earl Jones and Billy Dee Williams.

Tatyana made her film debut in Eddie Murphy's "Raw." She would later appear in "Crocodile Dundee II," "Kiss The Girls" and "The Brothers."

Tatyana has guest starred in such tv shows as "A Man Called Hawk," "In The House" and "Half & Half." In 1990 she starred in the hit tv series "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air." The show lasted from 1990 to 1996.

In 1998 Will Smith executive produced Tatyana's debut cd "Kiss The Sky." The cd included the top 10 single "Daydreamin." In June 2002 she graduated from Harvard University with a degree in Government. Tatyana also dated the late actor Jonathan Brandis for several years.
