Tonya Lee Williams was born Tonya Maxine Williams in London, England on July 12, 1967. Tonya and her family lived in Kingston, Jamaica and Oshawa, Canada. Tonya graduated from Ryerson College in Toronto, Canada, a school that specializes in theatre. She was also the winner of the Miss Black Ontario pageant.

Tonya's Canadian television appearances include "For the Record," "Seeing Things," "In Good Company," "Street Legal," "Time of Your Life," "Check it Out" and "Polka Dot Door," the Canadian version of "Sesame Street."

In the United States Tonya has guest starred in "Falcon Crest," "Hill Street Blues," "Matlock," "Gimme A Break," "Silk Stalkings" and "Getting By." Tonya starred in the daytime drama "Generations" and she currently stars as Dr. Olivia Barber in the daytime drama "The Young & The Restless." She joined the show in 1990.

Tonya has been nominated for the Outstanding Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy twice: in 1996 and 2000. Tonya has been nominated and won several NAACP Image Awards in the category of Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama.

Tonya keeps busy with her production company and she’s president and founder of the ReelWorld Film Festival. Tonya recently directed her first project called "Kink In My Hair" starring Sheryl Lee Ralph for Canada‘s Vision Television. She’s also the executive producer. In March 2004 Tonya executive produced and hosted "Tonya Lee Williams Gospel Jubilee" for the Canadian Broadcasting Company.

Tonya resides in Los Angeles, CA and Toronto, Canada.
